이 강좌는 중국외교정책에 대한 기본적 이해를 위한 개론적 과목으로 중국의 부상에 따른 국제정치적 지향변화를 연구한다. 1)일반 외교정책론의 관점에서 중국외교정책의 무엇을 어떻게 공부할 것인가를 구명한다. 2)중국외교정책에 영향을 미치는 역사, 문화, 국내정치 및 체제적 요인들을 검토한다. 3)1949년 이후 중국외교정책을 역사적으로 살펴보는 한편 국가대전략과의 연장에서 그 특징을 추출한다. 4)중국외교정책을 군사/안보적 측면과 경제측면의 두 가지 영역으로 나누어 살펴본다. 5)중국과 주요국가들의 양자관계와 지역주의에 대한 중국의 입장을 검토한다. 6)중국의 한반도 정책의 특징과 함의를 분석한다.

This is a survey course for the major characteristics of Chinese foreign policy  Recent debates on the rise of China and its implications will also be covered. This class observes history, structure, characters of modern Chinese foreign policy. Especially, it is composed of five sections 1) overall introduction of Chinese foreign policy, 2) decision making process, domestic restraints and diplomatic trends, 3) discussions of key determinants of Chinese foreign policy, 4) a comparison of security and economic issues in Chinese foreign policy, 5) overviews of bilateral relations  and the Third World and regional community 6) China's policy toward Korean peninsula.
