본 강의는 현대아프리카정치를 소개한다. (1) 왜 아프리카 국가들은 다른 지역의 국가들에 비해 약한가, (2) 아프리카 지역의 낮은 경제성장을 무엇으로 설명할 수 있는가, (3) 아프리카 지역 내 정치적 폭력의 유무는 어디에서 비롯되나 등을 규명한다. 다양한 사례 분석을 통해 정치학과 경제학 이론들을 활용한 비교분석을 시도한다.

This course provides an introduction to contemporary African politics. The core questions that motivate the course are: (1)Why are state structures weaker in Africa than elsewhere? (2)What accounts for Africa’s slow economic growth? (3)Why do some African countries suffer from high levels of political violence while others are spared? We will conduct comparative case studies using theories of political science and economics.
